What Our Clients Say
Parents
Karen Cepeda
Mom of Luis Cepeda
Luis has high-functioning autism and ADHD. Ever since pre-school, he experienced anxiety on and off and was clearly hyperactive relative to his peers.
Long story short, by the time Luis was in grade 3, he had already gone through three schools because of anxiety issues. Due to severe separation anxiety, mom homeschooled Luis for a time. In late 2017, Luis’s lead therapist, Dr. Anthony Grecia, told us about Teachers Benjie and Joji Santos of Candent Learning Haus. Starting in 2018, Luis attended one-on-one classes with Teacher Benjie at Candent for all academic subjects, using the appropriate grade-level curriculum. At this time, he was also entering puberty so, aside from anxiety, he also struggled with emotional regulation. For Teachers Benjie and Joji, the vision for Luis was clearly aligned with ours – to become a self-aware person, able to regulate himself for the sake of his own well-being and for that of the people around him. Jumping off from that foundation, we believed that Luis would more easily learn, catch up and potentially even exceed any academic tasks assigned to him. Luis learned at a pace and style that Tr. Benjie deemed it fit in order to reduce his anxiety and re-discover his love for learning. At the same, he was exposed to other students at Candent. This gave him an opportunity to practice social skills, as well as learn to accept and adjust to individuals with diverse personalities and abilities.
Gradually, over a period of six years, Luis was able to transition from one-on-one classes with Teacher Benjie to regular classes with peers at a progressive school. Truly, Teachers Benjie and Joji have been a blessing to our family. We are grateful for the genuine concern and support, not only for Luis but for our family unit. We look forward to their continued guidance as Luis grows into adulthood, and we hope that Luis will make them proud!

Teacher Benjie and Teacher Joji!
We would like to first congratulate both of you for all the dedication and hard work you have invested in Carlos’ education and achievements! Next, we congratulate our son, Carlos, for reaching this far. His journey in his Junior High and Senior High was not that easy but he made it because of all the Big Help from his Candent Family. Carlos has really changed a lot and he’s learning how to be independent and also knows how to handle himself already, especially with his frustrations. Sorry, we were not able to say these things during our IEP meeting a while ago because we were crying while listening to all the support, admiration, and positive feedback from his IEP team.
You have our deepest thanks Candent family and especially to you, Teacher Benjie and Teacher Joji!

What helped my son the most is the various activities that the course offers per school day. He doesn’t get bored and you can see his excitement and anticipation of the scheduled activities for the day.
I commend my son’s teachers for their patience and diligence in guiding their students as they go thru online class. I mostly sit with my son during the baking class and despite the differences on behaviors among students, they have shown flexibility and commitment to guide each one.

I greatly appreciated the efforts her teachers exerted in helping her learn all these necessary skills. I realized that I was not doing her any favors when I did most things for her. She needed to learn by doing things on her own. It was very slow going, but with persistence, she’s had some progress.

The teacher of my son is very calm and clear, this helps him calm down especially when he is upset. What helped my son the most as well, is the flow of the virtual sessions. They are very organized and his teachers are able to give him clear instructions.
My son seems to be enjoying both his Reading (We both love the selection of stories!) and Social Skills sessions.

Camp LIFE helped me become a leader by seeing other people’s perspectives, and how all our diverse talents can all contribute in developing ourselves for other people. I also became more assertive and compassionate because of the activities we shared and learned from. I hope to come back soon! 🙂

My name is Stephen Quiogue and Candent has been like a second home to me for over ten years now. Even though I’m no longer a student there, I’m still just as welcome in their walls like I’m family.
Before entering Candent, I had a few problems. Though I was enrolled in a mainstream school, made friends, and did decently in schoolwork. I had a lot to learn about life outside the walls of education. I was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) at the age of three and went to therapies for reading and speech, which helped me in school. Yet, even with the friends I made, I still had trouble talking to people either from starting conversations to things outside my special interests/obsessions, learning how to do things independently, and understanding others and myself in general. I could tell you a lot of the situations I got myself in because of my lack of social awareness and social skills. After all, people often expect you to already know these things when you are in school. A statement I never much took to heart.
Then, during my first year in high school, I was referred to Candent for social skills classes by my development psychologist. Honestly, I was nervous to be in a new place. I stayed in the same school until high school for years so this would be my first time away from familiar faces. Today, I would not trade the experiences I made in Candent for anything. Through their social skills classes, I was able to improve my conversation skills and my understanding of social situations. Those Saturdays spent with coaches, both those here today and those who left and fellow students like me grew my appreciation and understanding of others. If it weren’t for them, I don’t think would’ve been able to have fun outside in school, hanging out in malls and social spaces, and most especially, going to college, being in a relationship, and living the adult life.
It wasn’t just those that Candent helped me out with. When algebra and financing started growing troublesome for me, the coaches were there to help me. When I needed a guiding hand in the direction of my creativity and life plans, Teacher Joji and Teacher Benjie were there to expand my love for the creative arts and show me what I can do with them in my life. Candent was also the place that taught me higher responsibilities that I have not unlearned today. Camp LIFE, life skills coaching, working part-time with them as my first job after college. All these experiences with Candent really shaped me for the better. It also brought me joy when I saw my fellow students and friends improve a whole lot in their lives.
It all confirmed to me that what Candent is doing, what their goals and achievements have brought to people like me, is beautifully fulfilling. I truly can’t really thank them enough.

I always had a hard time with my academics here in the Philippines. Being a child with emotional difficulties made matters a lot worse. Luckily, I was sent to Candent for middle school and high school which helped my life immensely.
In Candent, I was treated with so much love and care every day. Although academics were still hard for me and I faced emotional difficulties, all the teachers were there to help me through it. Being surrounded around students that faced other difficulties in life was deeply humbling to me as well. Besides having my own mental difficulties, I got to learn about others’ as well.
Honestly, my graduating high school would have been a long shot without Candent. In my eyes, they are the best place ever for special education here in the Philippines. I will always be indebted to them. Thank you, Candent for making me graduate high school possible.

Candent is a helpful and friendly environment where compassion, competence, and commitment are shared with one another. The teachings are helpful, they give a lot of motivation and give different ways to overcome hard obstacles.
