LIFE Skills: Practical Life

The LIFE Skills: Practical Life program is designed for your child whom you want to become more independent, self-regulating, socially connected, and adept in academic skills useful in everyday life. Your child will learn skills like hygiene, food preparation, house-keeping, self-management, and home management.

LIFE Skills: Transition Life

The LIFE Skills: Transition Life program is designed for your child whom you want to help find work opportunities. It teaches your child how to adopt the skills he or she learned from the LIFE Skills: Practical Life program (e.g., hygiene, food preparation, house-keeping, self-management, and home management) and apply these into potential jobs. The program shall help your child find fulfilling work based on his or her interests and strengths. The LIFE Skills: Transition Life program is the bridge between our LIFE Skills and Work LIFE programs.

Work LIFE

Work LIFE programs focus on helping your child hone skills necessary or long-term domestic or employment setup based on their skills, needs, interests, family values, and aspirations. Candent offers two tracks under Work LIFE.

Work LIFE – Sheltered Program

The Work LIFE – Sheltered Program is designed for your teenage or young adult child whom you want to develop work skills that he or she can apply at home or in a sheltered workshop to earn money under supervision. The program aims to support your child to become independent functional and productive members of the family who could fulfill assigned responsibilities and even help bring income into your family.

Work LIFE – Integrated Program

The Work LIFE – Integrated Program is a work skills training program that helps eligible students acquire skills that could lead to competitive employment. Once your child becomes eligible for this program, we will provide him or her with advanced training in personal development, home and family living, vocation and career, enjoyment of leisure, health, community living, and citizenship.

This program is divided into two levels:

1. Basic. In this level, students receive training in areas like housekeeping, clerical and bookkeeping, baking, and cooking. They study subjects such as functional academics (or academics useful in every day life), self and home management, adapted sports, leisure, and arts, and work ethics.

2. Intermediate. This level narrows down the skills and areas that prepare your child for the vocational track they will later choose. At this level, vocational training is emphasized.

TESDA Certification Assistane Program (TESDA-CAP)

This program is offered to students who wish to increase their technical knowledge and skills in their chosen field. This aims to assist students from the Work LIFE Program in accomplishing and finishing an online TESDA course through the TESDA Online Program. Candent provides support in a classroom setup  type with discussion, lectures, and hands-on practice opportunities.

TESDA-CAP is further divided into two levels:

Level 1. This level mainly involves lectures and hands-on practice with appropriate assessment at the end of each module. Students will receive a Certificate of Completion from TESDA by the end of the program.

Level 2. This level mainly consists of review and practice opportunities for the skills acquired in Level 1. This is offered to students who were able to finish the first level and who are recommended by the teachers to take the National Certification (NC) at an accredited TESDA Assessment Center.

Internship

Candent’s internship program aims to provide eligible students with formal work training in Candent or in a partner institution to equip them with necessary skills and experiences for increased employability in the future. This program is a combination of onsite training and class discussion.

Subjects such as literacy (resume writing, job interviews, reading/writing memos), money management and personal accounting (banking, saving), pre-immersion (securing IDs and documents), navigating the community, developing executive and self-regulation skills, and work ethics are offered during the internship.

Academic/Skills Support

Academic/Skills Support was designed to help your child excel in academic and social activities at regular and partner schools. This program will teach your child practical life skills to face daily challenges at school. We will also work with your child to tackle challenges in reading or writing in English and Filipino, math, or other subjects.

Homeschool Support

Homeschool Support provides assistance to you and your child in implementing and completing academic homeschool programs.

LIFE Connect

LIFE Connect programs enhance your child’s empathy, kindness, and social skills through group activities. Candent offers two programs under LIFE Connect: Social Skills Training and Life Coaching.

Social Skills Training

Social Skills Training is designed to equip students with skills necessary for social settings and to help them make meaningful social interactions. Students are grouped based on age, needs, or interests.

Life Coaching

Life Coaching is a 1-on-1 or group coaching program focused on goal-setting and providing students with guidance to achieve their goals. The program also provides coaching and mindfulness activities for students who are facing issues and prepares them for future challenges and circumstances.

Home LIFE

Home LIFE programs assist your family in structuring a home that ensures continuity of learning and improved family relationships.

Home LIFE

Is your child, teenager, or adult loved one currently attending regular school but is in need of a consistent program at home to address priortizied goals? Do you and your family need coaching to structure the home into a place that is more supportive of your child’s needs and goals? If yes, then the Home LIFE Program is for you.

The Home LIFE Program is designed to help you structure your home to ensure that your child continue learning outside the classroom and thus become more prepared in tackling life changes. Structure and routines at home enhance the cognitive, social, and emotional development of your child. They teach your child how to plan, set goals, and pursue them effectively. Unlike classrooms, your home provides more security and stability that reduce anxiety, tantrums, and stress both on you and your child. The Home LIFE Program promises that your child will be more emotionally intelligent, improving your family life.

At the beginning of the program, we will provide an orientation and training and help you prioritize goals for your child. This will be followed with regular monitoring through video calls, video clips, anecdotal records, and checklists.

Added Components or Programs

1. Individualized Transition Plan (ITP) Development

Individualized Transition Plan (ITP) Development is offered as a standalone program or as an optional component of any Candent programs.

It primarily aims to encourage families in establishing specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and time-bound short-term and long-term goals for their children. Furthermore, it helps families create a life map that takes into account their resources and contexts, and prepares them on how to navigate transition points in life (e.g. home to school, school to community, school to work, etc)

2. Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Development

Individualized Education Plan (IEP) Development is offered as a standalone program.

It aims to provide a structured literacy plan for learners in partnership with an implementing institution (school they are enrolled in) or their home learning programs (for homeschooling families). The IEP outlines the learning areas that need to be targeted as assessed, the suggested sequencing of topics or skills, and some techniques on how to deliver the intended lessons.

3. Parent Coaching

This is designed to provide you parents with skills and techniques on how to reinforce skills learned, address social and behavioral issues proactively, create and maintain a safe home environment, and establish supportive family dynamics.

“One thing that made me happy was it gave Jaby a sense of normalcy in the midst of the pandemic. By having a schedule that he followed, it lessenned his agitation since he can’t leave the house. He was also happy to see his classmates and teachers.

The online baking class continued to hone his baking skills and opened an avenue for him to be an entrepreneur (JabBakes).

Congratulations to the Candent team for exhausting everything to keep the welfare of the kids intact and making the impossible, possible! The teachers have managed to reach out to the kids with compassion and discipline thus attaining the direction we have all pegged this online class to be. We continue to pray for our successful collaboration in putting direction amidst uncertainties of the times. God bless Candent!”
